Reels video production service in Dubai: how to choose a supplier, brief them and judge the result

A buyer's guide to reels production in Dubai: what the service should include, how to brief it, what drives the price and how to tell a good supplier from a busy one.

A good reels video production service in Dubai does more than film and cut vertical clips. It writes the hook and script, plans the shoot around light, permits and people, edits for the first two seconds, adds captions and licensed music, and delivers files sized and labelled for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. When you compare suppliers, compare those steps, not the showreel. This guide covers what to ask, how to brief, what drives the budget and how to judge what comes back.

What the service should actually include

Many suppliers quote for a shoot and an edit. That is only part of the job. A reel succeeds or fails on decisions made before the camera comes out. Ask each supplier to confirm which of these are in the quote:

  • Concept and hook: who writes the opening line or visual, and how many options you see before the shoot.
  • Script and shot list: a written plan you approve, so the shoot day is not improvised.
  • Direction on camera: if your team, agents or founder appear, someone should coach delivery, not just press record.
  • Vertical framing from the start: 9:16 shot natively, not cropped from a horizontal frame.
  • Captions: many people scroll with the sound off, so on-screen text should be part of the edit, not an extra.
  • Licensed music: business accounts often cannot use the same trending audio as personal accounts, so ask where the music comes from and who holds the licence.
  • Revisions: how many rounds, and what counts as a revision versus a new edit.
  • Delivery: file formats, cover frames, and a turnaround time written into the agreement.

If a supplier cannot answer these clearly, you will be the one filling the gaps, usually the night before you need to post.

How to brief a reels supplier in Dubai

A vague brief produces generic reels. A useful brief fits on one page and answers five things.

First, the single action you want. A booking, a viewing, a DM, a store visit, a form fill. One reel, one job.

Second, the audience and language. Dubai audiences split across Arabic, English and other languages, and the right choice depends on who buys from you. Our guide on choosing Arabic or English for UAE reels explains how to plan both from a single shoot.

Third, what is available on the day. Locations, products, people, and access times. A restaurant kitchen at 11am behaves very differently from service at 9pm. A tower lobby may need building management approval days in advance.

Fourth, the rules you operate under. Property ads in Dubai need the relevant advertising permit details. Clinics, financial services and some food and health products face specific rules on advertising claims. Tell the supplier early so the script is compliant before it is filmed, not after.

Fifth, where the reels will run. Organic posting, paid ads and a sales team sending clips on WhatsApp all need slightly different edits. A good supplier will ask about this. If they do not, raise it yourself.

What drives the budget

Reels pricing in Dubai varies widely because suppliers are quoting different scopes. Rather than comparing headline numbers, look at what moves the cost:

  • Number of reels per shoot day. Batching several reels into one planned day costs far less per reel than booking separate days.
  • Locations. Every move between sites eats shooting time, and Dubai traffic makes that worse.
  • Talent. Using your own team is cheaper than hiring presenters or models, but it needs more direction.
  • Permits and access. Drone work, public locations and some private developments require approvals that take time and sometimes fees.
  • Season and time of day. Summer heat shortens usable outdoor hours, and golden hour is brief. Shoots squeezed into those windows may need more crew or more days.
  • Edit complexity. Motion graphics, animation and multiple language versions add editing time.
  • Turnaround. Faster delivery often means more editors on the job.
  • Ongoing versus one-off. A monthly content engagement spreads planning costs across many reels, while a one-off shoot carries the full setup each time.

Always check whether quotes include VAT. In the UAE, prices are often quoted before the 5% VAT, and two quotes can look different simply because one includes it. For a broader view of format pricing, see our breakdown of video production costs in Dubai by format.

Red flags when comparing suppliers

Some warning signs show up early if you know where to look.

  • Only views in the portfolio. Big numbers are easy to show. Ask what the reel was for and what it led to.
  • Guarantees. Nobody controls the algorithm. A supplier promising a set number of views or followers is selling hope.
  • No script stage. If the first thing you see is a finished edit, the thinking happened without you.
  • Horizontal footage cropped to vertical. Look for awkward framing, heads cut off and text squeezed to the edges.
  • Unclear music rights. Copyrighted tracks can get reels muted or removed, and the risk sits with your account.
  • No mention of permits. Anyone filming in Dubai regularly should raise drone, location and advertising permit questions without being asked.
  • Vague delivery dates. "As soon as possible" is not a date. Ask for it in writing.
  • The person pitching is not the person directing. Ask who will actually be on set.
Ask every supplier the same question: what happened after this reel was posted? The answer tells you whether they think about your business or just their showreel.

How to judge the result

A reel can go viral and still sell nothing. Before the shoot, agree what success looks like. For a restaurant that may be reservations or saved posts. For a brokerage it is enquiries and viewings. For a B2B brand it might be profile visits from the right companies. Our article on why views are not a KPI covers how to set targets that connect to revenue.

When the files arrive, check a few practical things. Does the first second earn the second? Is the call to action clear and specific? Do captions match what is said, in the right language and spelling? Is any text inside the safe zones, clear of the platform's buttons? Can you reuse the footage for a second cut or a paid ad? Good suppliers build in that flexibility.

If you plan to post reels every week, the production partner and the people running your accounts need to work as one team. That is where a social media marketing team in Dubai that also produces the content saves time and rework.

Questions we get asked

How many reels can come from one shoot day?

It depends on locations, talent and how well the day is planned. A scripted day in one location produces many more usable reels than an unplanned day across the city. Ask your supplier to show a sample shot list so you can see what is realistic.

Do we need permits to film reels in Dubai?

Often, yes. Drone footage, public spaces and many private buildings need approval, and property marketing must carry the correct advertising permit details. A supplier who films here regularly should handle or guide this. Confirm in writing who is responsible.

How fast can reels be delivered?

Turnaround varies by scope. For our real estate project videos, we deliver within 48 hours of the shoot. For other formats, agree the date before booking.

What does a reel cost in Dubai?

Scope drives the number. As one reference point, our real estate project videos are AED 1,000 for one video, AED 4,500 for five and AED 8,000 for ten, each a cinematic vertical edit of up to 45 seconds with hook, script, licensed music and captions included. Prices exclude 5% VAT. Other formats are quoted on the brief.
